What is Unix Time?
Unix time (also known as Epoch time, POSIX time, or Unix timestamp) is a system for describing a point in time. It is defined as the number of seconds that have elapsed since the Unix Epoch, which is 00:00:00 UTC on Thursday, 1 January 1970, minus leap seconds.
How to use this tool:
- Real-time Ticker: Shows the current epoch time. You can pause the count or copy it instantly with a single click.
- Convert Timestamp: Paste any 10-digit (seconds) or 13-digit (milliseconds) Unix timestamp to view its equivalent GMT/UTC and local time values, along with a relative human time calculation (e.g. "3 days ago").
- Convert Date: Choose a date and time using the datetime selector to generate the exact Unix timestamp in both seconds and milliseconds.
